Media and Information Literacy Week Forum 2018

Media and Information Literacy Week Forum 2018

The aim of this week is to bring together stakeholders such as NGOs, MIL practitioners, local media, policymakers, students, teachers etc. and discuss the primary role of information and media in our everyday lives. The objective of this is to celebrate the annual MIL Week under the theme "Media and Information Literate Cities: Voices, Powers, and Change Makers." The goal is to promote MIL involving youth as major users of information.

This year we want to focus on the youth specifically on how social media affects them, the proliferation of fake news and how they assess information, and gender mainstreaming online specifically on cyberbullying, hate speech, and freedom of expression. The forum will be a venue for open dialogue, youth empowerment, and civic engagement.
