[Open Access Week 2021] Day 2

[Open Access Week 2021] Day 2

In celebration of the 14th International Open Access Week (OAW), we are delighted to invite you to the upcoming ZOOM webinar on "How not to become OA with OA" by April Manabat and Darya Zvonareva.

April Manabat is an Expert Librarian at Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan. She is currently the Subject Librarian for the School of Sciences and Humanities and the coordinator for the Ask-A-Librarian Service of the NU Library. A Filipino licensed librarian, she finished her Masters of Library and Information Science at the University of the Philippines Diliman. She has more than a decade of experience in academic librarianship. Her research interests include academic librarianship, digital humanities, and information literacy.

Darya Zvonareva is a Reference Librarian and Subject Librarian for the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences at Nazarbayev University. She has expanded experience in reference services. She has written and provided lectures on information literacy, academic integrity, and librarianship.

Open Access movement has emerged as a driver for changing production, consumption, and exchange of information, knowledge and ideas. In this presentation, we propose to reflect on the current state of OA: is it becoming unsustainable for contemporary society? What are the challenges for science? For society? Do the activities around OA represent the values or is there too much buzz built into this movement?
