[Workshop] Disability Sensitive Language: How to Talk about Disability in a Professional and Ethical Way
The NU Library is happy to invite everyone to the workshop 'Disability Sensitive Language: How to Talk about Disability in a Professional and Ethical Way’.
In line with one of the NU key values of inclusion, the Academic Council has recently approved the Support for Students with Disability and Special Learning Needs Policy. To further advance this initiative, the Library aims to assist NU’s administrative and service departments in rethinking their approach and language used when providing services for students.
In this workshop, you will:
- learn basic principles of disability-sensitive terminology,
- become more cognisant of the disability-based stereotypes and cliches,
- understand how to discuss disabilities ethically and professionally.
The workshop objectives are to foster increased sensitivity and awareness in the NU community regarding students' special needs. It will be particularly useful for the staff of the DSS, Academic Advising Office, NU HWC, Career and Advising Center, as well as all other administrative staff at schools.
Language: Russian
Venue: 5e.230
Help advance NU's pursuit of academic excellence and its mission to create an inclusive and welcoming community!
