We are excited to invite you to participate in the Regional Bloomberg Trading Challenge 2024, organized by the Nazarbayev University Library in collaboration with Bloomberg, the Graduate School of Business, and the School of Sciences and Humanities, exclusively for NU.

This competition will help you to get prepared for the upcoming Bloomberg 2024 Global Trading Challenge scheduled for October. 

Designed to provide you with hands-on experience in real-world investing using Bloomberg Terminals, it is also an excellent opportunity to enhance your financial skills and compete with your peers. You will have the chance to define market assumptions, develop return-generating trading strategies, and execute trades over a closed network. The winning team will have the highest Relative P&L, relative to the Bloomberg World Large, Mid & Small Cap Price Return Index (WLS Index).

🗓️ Challenge Period: September 2 - 20, 2024 (US market open - US market close)

🖥️ Access to Bloomberg Terminals: Available 24/7 during the challenge period at:

• the Library Media Room (Block 5, 2nd floor, 5e.216)
• the Bloomberg Lab (Block C3, 5th floor, 5059)

📝 Registration Period: August 5 - 27, 2024

📢 Info Sessions: August (TBA). Before the challenge starts, you will attend mandatory info sessions by Bloomberg representatives to explain the challenge rules and expectations.

 🔎 Performance Tracking: Your portfolio performance will be tracked by the Graduate School of Business (GSB) and the School of Sciences and Humanities (SSH).

⌨️ Reporting: You are required to submit periodic reports detailing your trading activities, rationale behind decisions, and portfolio performance.

⚖️ Evaluation: September 23, 2024

🥇 Awarding Ceremony: September 27, 2024. Winning teams are announced based on their portfolio performance and adherence to challenge rules. Prizes include branded gifts and certificates.

Registration Details

1. A team should consist of 3 to 5 members, including a Team Leader.
2. A Team Leader* must list all members on the registration form.
3. You will receive a confirmation of your registration. 
4. Once participation is confirmed, your team will need to attend the info sessions about the challenge rules.
