Academic Publishing Support and Research Integrity: Module 4

Academic Publishing Support and Research Integrity: Module 4

This course is specifically designed for a newly established NURA to support researchers, grant administrators, and academic staff in managing the award operations, research dissemination, and ethical publication practices.

This module explores key ethical and practical considerations in selecting the right journal for your research. Topics include understanding publication ethics, the role of AI policies and acceptance in modern publishing, and the various publishing models (Traditional, Open, Self-publishing, and Hybrid). Participants will gain insight into authors’ rightscopyright, and licensing within the context of Open Science and the benefits of Open Access. The course also covers important financial aspects, such as Article Processing Charges (APCs) and available funding support. Additional discussions include the journal publishing cycle and how to identify predatory journals to avoid unethical publishing practices. By the end, you’ll be better equipped to make informed and responsible decisions when choosing a journal for your research.
