The NU Library cordially invites you to attend a book presentation titled “Issues of the Language of Science” (Ғылым тілі мәселелері) by Sarkyt Aliszhan, Doctor of Philological Sciences and Associate Professor at the Department of Kazakh Language and Turkic Studies, School of Sciences and Humanities, Nazarbayev University.

About the book:
S.K. Aliszhan’s book “Issues of the Language of Science” brings together his studies in this area. The book consists of two parts. The first part is called “Cognitive Foundations of Scientific Discourse”. It considers the features and characteristics of scientific discourse, its key concepts, the semantic structure of scientific texts, and the subject factor in scientific texts. Also, some metaphorical models that shape the communicative-cognitive space in scientific discourse are described. The second part, “Issues of Terminology”, compiles the author’s articles on terminology published over different years. The book is intended for specialists interested in the language of science and scientific discourse, the scholarly community, as well as undergraduate and graduate students majoring in philology.

About the author:
Doctor of Philology Sarkyt Kalymuly Aliszhan has been working in higher education institutions for many years. The scholar’s research interests include the following areas of linguistics: language of science, terminology issues, syntax, and the teaching of the Kazakh language. Several of his studies are dedicated to the scholarly legacy of prominent Kazakh linguists. In light of the rapid development of terminology studies, he continues to actively contribute to research in this field. He has published a significant number of articles on key issues in term formation. These works have appeared in “Terminological Bulletin”, “Language and Society”, and other national publications. Doctor of Philological Sciences S.K. Aliszhan is a scholar-educator who has dedicated many years to Kazakh linguistics and has mentored numerous students.
